SocketLabs Pledges $100,000 to World Vision
SocketLabs partners with World Vision with $100,000 pledge to help humanitarian causes in Child Protection and Economic Development.
Claymont, DE (PRWEB) July 20, 2011
SocketLabs announces they have partnered with World Vision by making a $100,000 pledge over the next five years. Money provided through this pledge will help support World Vision’s humanitarian initiatives to save millions of children’s lives through interventions like Child Protection and Economic Development programs. These represent two key areas where World Vision is intensifying efforts to create lasting, sustainable change. The interventions complement and build on existing development programs in local communities.
“We decided as a company to give part of what we earn to causes that we feel are important,” explained SocketLabs CEO John Alessi. “We see World Vision initiatives in Child Protection and Economic Development as important causes where we could invest to make an impact and help improve the lives of children and families around the world.”
World Vision’s Child Protection initiative helps rescue and rehabilitate children who have been the victims of child slavery and prostitution. Each year over 1.8 million children are exploited in global sex trade.
The Economic Development initiative provides micro-finance loans which average only $200 to poor families to start new businesses so they can provide for their families.
