Small Business Optomistic About Economy

Website creation solutions company Webs recently conducted a survey of 1,700 small business owners, asking them primarily about their feelings concerning the direction of the economy. Perhaps surprisingly, the results showed significant optimism about the direction things were headed.
Nearly half of the business owners surveyed - 47% - expected an economic bounceback within the next year. Meanwhile 67% foresaw their 2012 profits increasing over their 2011 profits.
Interestingly, a significant percentage of those surveyed were not the stereotypical small business owner who started a business in fulfillment of a long-held dream. Rather, 38% started a business because they were victims of corporate layoffs and the poor job market left them with no alternative. That they were among those who foresaw economic recovery in the near future is perhaps the most heartening result of this survey.
Webs, the company that conducted the survey, specializes in website creation tools, particularly for small businesses. Web site creation is a relatively inexpensive means of starting a small business, and 67% of those surveyed saw websites as the best and cheapest means of promoting their product or service.
Other interesting results from the survey include the fact that 45% of respondents were delaying new hiring until the economy improved, and 39% were delaying investment. Only 13% were increasing investment in their business while waiting for the economy to improve.
