Blog Post from Digital Marketer Shares E-Commerce Speed Test Results from Recent Study
Digital Marketer’s blog posted an online piece about e-commerce processing speeds, which have been slowing down in recent years.

Austin, TX (PRWEB) September 24, 2012
The Digital Marketer blog has published a post about a new study from StrangeLoop Networks, which has been “diligently testing away with a laptop and a stopwatch for years,” according to Managing Editor and lead blogger Josh Loposer.
“Have you noticed the lightning fast speeds at which 2012′s e-commerce sites load product photos and process payments?” asked Loposer sarcastically in the blog. “If your answer is no, that’s because they’re not lightning fast…”
E-commerce sites are 10% slower than they were in 2010, and Loposer added that the research found the industry average to be 6.5 seconds.
The blog post shines some light on possible explanations for the drop in quickness. Loposer said that “Basically, e-comm designers are constantly pushing the limits on our devices, browsers, and connection speeds… making our consumerist research processes prettier, but slower.”
Most importantly, Loposer says that a basic formula emerges from this research data. A faster site speed leads to less shopping cart abandoning, which in turn leads to more money, he said.
