On February 27, social media agency fishbat, Inc. released a new edition of fishbat Splash discussing the new Instagram web profile feature for its users.

According to Instagram’s blog, user web profiles will feature a “selection of your recently shared photographs just above your profile photo and bio, giving others a snapshot of the photos you share on Instagram.” Instagram boasts that its users can “follow [other] users, comment and like photos and edit your profile easily and directly from the web. It’s a beautiful new way to share your Instagram photos!”

fishbat Splash co-host Gabrielle Guffrieda, fishbat's Community Manager, commented further on the new web profile feature. “Instagram users can share their own profile with anyone. Web profiles provide an easy way to follow other users, comment and like photos, and even edit your profile directly from the web.”

According to Instagram’s blog, “Instagram is focused on the production of photos from mobile devices so users are not currently able to upload from the web. We’re excited about how Web Profiles will make it easier to browse and share content on the web for all our users.”

“I’m curious to see how this new web version will evolve,” comments Guffrieda. Guffrieda adds that the new web profile feature can function as a potential social platform that is similar to current social networks.

Scott Darrohn, fishbat COO and co-host of fishbat Splash, commented on Instagram’s web profile option as a possibility for advertising space. “Maybe there will be less mobile advertising from Instagram if they have more advertising space.”
