The School of Internet Marketing Instructor Releases Podcast on the Power of Networking at Conferences

Jonathan Goodman, Professor at The School of Internet Marketing and President of Halyard Consulting, has released his latest weekly podcast. In this podcast, he explains the importance of industry networking in today's businesses. To prove his point, he illustrated stories from his own business experience to show how he secured important contacts, especially from conventions. According to Goodman, networking is one of the most substantial ways to grow a business.
Goodman discussed how socializing is extremely important at industry functions and how a business owner should use the opportunity to get to know others. He also explains the three types of parties that a person can attend where they will meet important contacts in their industry:
*Cocktail parties - which often take place at the end of the day. Most people stick with their cliques and do not mingle.
*Event parties - public events for anyone with conference access. These are the ones that are critical for people to attend and make connections.
*Private parties where a person must receive a personal invitation in order to attend and are exclusive.
Attending these parties is essential for people who want to make the right connections in their industry. According to Goodman, they are critical for developing relationships that someone can reconnect with again in the future. Goodman was quoted as saying “…in a relaxed environment with all of the industry leaders, it really allowed me to build these relationships”.
