Internet Sales Tax Proposal Not Ready for the Federal Budget Process
The Electronic Retailing Association opposes the procedural effort to sidestep needed debate on New Internet Tax Burden
Washington, D.C. March 22, 2013
Bill McClellan, Vice President Government Affairs Electronic Retailing Association, issued the following statement in response to the attempt to amend the Internet Sales Tax proposal to the Federal Budget Process.
“The growing opposition to effort is ample proof that a real and honest conversation is needed to fix ongoing concerns with this legislation before consideration by the Senate. Businesses across the country have grown increasingly concerned with this complex proposal and its impact on remote retailers and the economy. Potential inclusion with the federal budget, without the due process of the legislative process, confuses this issue even further where clarity and simplification are required.”
