Survey: Social Media - Nearly Half Use Social Networking on the Toilet or While Drunk, Says New CreditDonkey.com Survey
Survey found consumers are using social networking while watching TV, traveling, doing work, sitting on the toilet, partying, shopping, and even while driving.

A new survey reveals Americans are using social networking during practically all waking hours. The survey of nearly 1,200 respondents, by credit card comparison and financial education website CreditDonkey.com, found Americans are embracing social media in every facet of life.

Are consumers glued to social networking? The CreditDonkey.com survey indicates so. When asked if they use social networking, respondents said they do it while:
- Watching TV (81%)
- Traveling (71%)
- At work (61%)
- On the toilet (49%)
- Drunk (48%)
- Shopping (39%)
- Exercising (19%)
- Driving (14%)
Differences in gender:
- More female respondents use social networking while watching TV (83% vs 80%)
- More female respondents use social networking while traveling (73% vs 69%)
- More female respondents use social networking while shopping (44% vs 36%)
- More female respondents use social networking while exercising (21% vs 18%)
- More male respondents use social networking while at work (62% vs 58%)
- More male respondents use social networking while on the toilet (54% vs 40%)
- More male respondents use social networking while drunk (51% vs 41%)
- More male respondents use social networking while driving (15% vs 12%)
"The research team at CreditDonkey.com conducted the survey primarily to see if consumers use social networking while shopping but were surprised at the number of folks who use social networking everywhere else," says Charles Tran, founder of CreditDonkey.com. "It's alarming to see over 1 in 10 respondents using social networking while driving, considering the well-publicized dangers of distracted driving."
