Dancing the Water Tango

Dancing the Water Tango

I was channel surfing last night when I happen to came across the Women’s Synchronized Swimming event in the London Olympics. Two young swimmers from Japan were impeccably performing their routine together in perfect coordination and it struck me – synchronized swimming so very much like Integrated Marketing.

Integrated marketing is when you combine offline marketing practices (print ads, word of mouth, brochures, call cards, trade shows, etc.) with your digital or internet marketing (search, social, display, video, and mobile).

Here are 2 ways you can get a Perfect 10 from the judges, in this case, the consumers or your target market:

1. Practice consistency and uniformity.

Every stroke, every step, every turn of the head should be consistent. This means all your marketing efforts both online and offline should relay the same message and contain the same information.

2. Develop a killer choreography.
Do your marketing channels supplement and complement each other? They need not be alike but there should be choreography for it to make sense to your target market.

Nowadays, most of us can’t help but get busy on the online world – the hi-tech stuff – that we forget there’s also potential in the real, low-tech world too when raking in customers.

Are you pairing up online and offline marketing efforts? Tell us how you do it.
